Dissenter at Bank of Japan calls for more easing
The Bank of Japan says “developments in prices continue to warrant careful attention”. This doesn’t sound like it's ready to take their foot off the accelerator any time soon. If anything, more easing could be on the cards

ECB considers impact of EURUSD rising to 1.36
The European Central Bank's sensitivity analysis around its latest macroeconomic projections is not a prediction, but it does suggest the bank sees upside risk to EURUSD. Rate differentials between the USD and EUR have not held back single currency

Is it loony to be long loonies?
FX traders are glad this week is over. Minor and short-lived bouts of activity were bracketed by mind-numbing boredom as traders waited for Jackson Hole speeches by Fed chief Janet Yellen and the ECB's Mario Draghi. Meanwhile, USDCAD has dropped 7% since the Bank of Canada announced a shift to tighter policy, and the technicals for the currency pair remain bearish.

    The great white short squeeze
The US dollar is ending the week with gains against the euro, yen, and Swiss franc while the commodity currency bloc and sterling are on the rise as well. The week's big turnaround, however, arguably took place in CAD.

Bank of Japan board member says 2% inflation target is unfeasible

Bank of Japan board member says 2% inflation target is unfeasible
With inflation updates due out for both the US and Japan this week, it is timely to look at the dissenting view of a Bank of Japan board member, who doesn't believe that the central bank's 2% inflation target is realistic. Interestingly, USDJPY has been closely matching moves in the US 10-Year bond.
