Can Takata survive the massive airbag recall?

    CNBC
The risk is increasing of Takata facing a cash crunch as the cost of its global airbag recall spirals ever-upwards, analysts warn. "Takata is in a very difficult position," SMBC Nikko's manager of credit research Takayuki Atake told CNBC. The cost of the recall in the US, the largest in the country's history, could cost the Japanese airbag maker around 250 bn yen ($2.1 bn), which would "wipe out the company's capital and cash," he said. Two years after the first deaths linked to defective inflators for Takata's airbags, the Japanese company agreed on Tuesday to double the number of airbags to be recalled in the US to nearly 34m vehicles. So far, six deaths and hundreds of injuries have been associated with Takata airbags exploding due to faulty inflators.

HP to sell Chinese unit to Tsinghua Unigroup for $2.3bn

    Reuters
Hewlett-Packard is selling a controlling 51% stake in its China-based data-networking business to China's Tsinghua Unigroup for at least $2.3 billion, according to Reuters. The move will lead to a partnership designed to create a Chinese technology powerhouse. State-backed Tsinghua Holdings' subsidiary Unisplendour will acquire 51% of HP's H3C Technologies. HP said it will form a partnership with Tsinghua Holdings to create a group in China to house H3C's networking operation alongside its China-based server, data-storage and technology-services businesses.

Interest rate differentials not Greece setting direction for EURUSD
The EURUSD was sold off earlier in the week following the ECB's front-loading comments. But it’s clear there will be no change in ECB monetary policy for some time. Rather it was the narrowing of the interest rate differential in German and US 10-year benchmark yields that produced the rally in EURUSD.

Today's Trade: Banks in the spotlight after heavy selloff
The ASX 200 rose in early trading however, lack of data releases is expected to keep volumes low. Financials will be the sector to watch with the banks having been heavily sold off recently. Meanwhile, AUDUSD traded in a relatively tight range between 0.7867 and 0.7912, with 0.7850 remaining a key support level.

Record number of Japanese companies post JPY 100 billion net profit

    Nikkei Asian Review
A record 61 publicly traded Japanese companies booked JPY 100 billion or more in net profit in fiscal 2014, according to the Nikkei Asian Review. The situation has been partly attributed to successful structural reforms and corporate buyouts but businesses are also thriving because of aggressive acquisitions in foreign markets. Toyota came in at the top, thanks to strong car sales in North America and the weak yen, while Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group became the first Japanese bank to top JPY 1 trillion, partly due to the soft currency.

Double up on coffee; downside move is overdone

    Managing Partner / Spotlight Group
    United Kingdom
Last week the ICO gave a bullish outlook for coffee. But on Thursday that was undone following a report from Volcafe.
I feel the downside slide was too aggressive. Buy at 129.05 so the average cost is 135.84 with a stop of 123.00.
