    The Global Dairy Trade auction recorded another strong increase in prices, helping NZDUSD to rise. But there's still a way to go before local farmers are reassured, especially as the market has rallied largely as a result of falling supply. And despite the improvement in prices, financial markets continue to price in at least one more cut to the RBNZ's official cash rate.

    Morning report APAC: Rates rally, equities upbeat ahead of Fed meeting
    There were very strange move in rates overnight with a strong rally in the whole curve – 10yr UST, for example, rallied 12 basis points to 2.29%. European stocks were up, led by gains in car makers and energy producers. Upbeat US retail sales data pushed stocks to their highest level in more than two weeks but did little to remove uncertainty about whether the Federal will increase rates when it meets this week.

    Local markets opened higher, following the lead from Wall St although the waiting game continues with regard to whether the US will lift rates. The materials and healthcare sectors led the charge. After dipping below 0.7100, AUDUSD rebounded as the US trading session began. Yesterday’s price actions indicate AUDUSD is resilient but at the same time the upside momentum appears to be fading.
