    Old gadgets refuse to die at CES Las Vegas

    Every January, all roads lead to Las Vegas when it comes to consumer electronics. The latest gadget fest in this five-star oasis of gambling and excess featured plenty of weird and wonderful devices designed to entice both home users and IT-minded professionals keen to find business applications for consumer technology. How about a personal digital assistant? Why not try that home automation innovation in the office? Surprisingly, this year's line-up of devices featured some old favourites made new again, including flash drives, record players and even Polaroid cameras. So this year’s CES was either the comeback event for technologies and brands that should have stayed dead and forgotten, or proof that in the rush to create the future, there's nothing like the past to serve as inspiration.
