Steen Jakobsen
Back In April, Saxo Bank’s Chief Economist Steen Jakobsen made what was widely reported to be a controversial call: sell up, he said, and take a holiday from the markets and warned that there was a USD debt margin call on the way. Now he's saying it’s time to get back to work and in what be seen as another controversial call he's looking at buying EM and commodity assets.

Wanted: Your feedback to help us develop the new TradingFloor.com

Co-founder and CEO / Saxo Bank A/S
Denmark

The new TradingFloor.com is a major milestone for Saxo Bank, one that we have been working towards for a long time in our quest to transform the way traders trade and share their information.

But we are only part of the way there. Because the site is in beta mode, this means that we will continue to add new features and develop TradingFloor.com further to ensure a world-class experience for our members and clients.

And this is where you — our members and clients — can help. We want to hear your ideas and views about beta.TradingFloor.com: what do you think we can do to improve it, what should be added, or taken away, for that matter? Collective wisdom is the order of the day and one of the reasons behind our success, so your feedback is extremely important to us.

Our aim with the new TradingFloor.com is to set free the peer-to-peer power of traders around the world by enabling them to connect online with experienced and like-minded investors who are tired of input from salespeople from traditional banks.

The beta site, which went live yesterday, allows investors to share their trades in a community where all performance data is verified and in real time, ensuring the performance of the people you choose to follow or copy.

Having once revolutionised online trading as a first mover in 1998, Lars Seier Christensen, my fellow co-Founder and co-CEO of Saxo Bank, and I now want to democratise access to trading and fund management by opening up an otherwise closed world of trading.

And through beta.TradingFloor.com, we have enabled investors to share their trades openly, interact with each other, post comments and strategies, discuss, follow and copy each other.

We believe that this may change radically how investors go about trading FX, CFDs, options, futures, bonds and equities in the future, making trading a social experience.

At the new TradingFloor.com, you can transparently see what the best traders are doing with their own money in any asset class of your choice. We are deliberately only featuring real traders with real accounts trading their own money to ensure a community of serious investors.

And this is why it is so important that you help us in critiquing the site and sending us your feedback, which we will use to improve the site.

Explore beta.TradingFloor.com, take note of what you'd like to see or experience and write your feedback in the comment section below.

Personally, I prefer the squawks and the blogs on the same page. I am a lazy trader and do not like opening different windows to read info. The current trading floor display of squawks and blogs, is for me, ideal
1y

Agree Michael...also I am not happy that other traders can see the size of trades I make...I am perfectly happy for traders to see opening/closing of trades but not the trade size as this may encourage excess risk taking by following traders IMHO. The showing of OI and commods in the margin areas is great though.

totally agree. "My dashboard" is what makes tradingfloor.com stand out among the rest. I also prefer this layout and font to the new one.

Thanks for your valuable feedback so far, gentlemen. We are taking note of everything you say and I will pass your comments on to our developers. As I mentioned in my blog, one of our aims is to make the new tradingfloor.com a world-class experience. This is just the beginning - and I look forward to hearing from more of you about beta.tradingfloor.com in the coming weeks.

It may be a good idea to keep track of the performance of Trade Ideas on the Dashboard based on hypothetical trades in the same manner that it is done on this beta version for the traders.
1y
Lektor Lektor
All people, random strangers users of Facebook and we clients of Saxo (live account) will be equal? Shall we have any added value or advantage? Shall we become a members of anonymous crowd? I am absolutely satisfied with the old version, I enter there from SaxoTrader, easy.
1y
Kim Fournais Kim Fournais
Good points, Lektor. Only TradingFloor members and Saxo clients can log into the site via their social media platforms, such as Facebook or LinkedIn. You can choose whether or not to share your trades with the community - or you can use a "nickname" rather than your real name if you still want to make your trades visible but want to remain anonymous. It is entirely up to you. As we continue to develop beta.tradingfloor.com, we will be adding a host of unique features and content that will be exclusive to our members and clients.
1y
Kim Fournais Kim Fournais
Interesting idea, Gus 1, and thank you. Just a quick question: rather than hypothetical trades, wouldn't you rather see real trades? The beta site allows investors to share their trades where all performance data is verified and in real time. As I mentioned in my blog above, we are deliberately only featuring real traders with real accounts trading their own money to ensure a community of serious investors.

I hope that in all posts will be allowed only graphs made in SaxoTrader platform. It is not bad. That is should be a building of customer loajality.

A sound notification option for calendar events would be handy

Being able to choose what modules are on the front page, and possibly a rotating window (showing random modules) would be nice - it would assure at least occasionally seeing stuff that one does not keep on their front page. It would also be nice to be able to see the "social trades" on price charts - the trade specifics are already in the system, so should be feasible. Of course, I would like to see a lot of different data (macro, news) overlaid on price charts as well.
1y

I'm having issues with the Calendar function. Every time I go to the Calendar tab I get the following message... "The request is too large for IE to process properly." Also, a "search" function like the one on the exiting site would be helpful as an additional filter
1y

a find field would be nice, like in the old tradingfloor

I would like to see most of the informational content outside of this platform. I rely on established sources of information outside of TradingFloor and most often keep them side by side and then come here to trade based on the new insights, if you try to combine the two, I think you will win at none.
1y
NRodriguez NRodriguez
Don't get me wrong, I love the new TradingFloor for social trading but flooding it with financial articles as I heard some say its coming will just pollute a clean trading platform.
1y
captaink captaink
I watch Canadian and US economic calendar but the new platform seems to allow only "All" or a singular country, not a combination of countries. Additionally, after you filter down to a singular country's economic events; there is no "save preferences" that I could find. I hope I can still access the old platform
1y
Kim Fournais Kim Fournais
As I have mentioned, the new TradingFloor.com is continuing to develop and we will be adding new features to ensure a world-class website that takes trading to a whole new level. And I am sure you will be happy to hear that we are currently prioritising a number of development updates based on your valuable feedback.

New Tradingfloor should provide more filters both for activity (asset classes ,choice of FX pairs and futs, size of trades, trader, etc. This filters out noise. THe news / squawk section should also allow taylored pre-set filters so traders can select what is shown when published. As in for example 1. all by JOhn H and Steen, & all EURUSD & USDJPY. So ZAR published by Steen shows but all other articles on ZAR are ignored.

The platform is great! Very useful and friendly!
The only thing I would like to see added is the ability to view and sort traders performance not just by 1 year but at least for the past 3 and 5 years.
One year performance is typically random in the world of trading and it doesn’t tell us much. Thanks

I like new platform, but here is my suggestion. When you are on "Trade Stream" page and you look at the trade activities concerned with certain trade, the list of these activities shows the latest activity at the bottom. I think the newest activity should be placed at the top. This is the same reason why I use hotmail and dont use gmail where you have to scroll down to see the latest reply.

Hi - Love the platform. Unfortunately I cannot show my performance because I trade in three currencies and have multiple accounts - but would love to. Also, would be great to report a number of return vintages eg 1 yr, 2yr, 3 yr, 5yr, 10y, and especially since inception - hence a compound annual return would help compare traders one a more stable footing - rather than just 1 year. But enjoying it just the same.

Great platform. Would be good if you can add more filters in Trade Stream page; like: positions type long or short; Open a new position or close an existing position; Order type limit or market; add droplist with all products; filter by nominal amount; filter by exposure. Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to add: filter by: Price change and another filter by Trade duration in the Trade Stream page.

how do I get listed on the "Traders" platform in my country? why can I not chose if I want to get find over a search engine or "unlist in search engine"? Actually I don't get listed on Traders. Maybe a "block-list" could be also usable.

The new setup doesn't seem to allow me to save preferences - every time I use calendar, I need to filter out news from countries I have no interest in. The calendar structure with instant report updates was great; I guess I'll go back to MSN Calendar. :-(
I was hoping I'd be able to continue using old calendar, much to my chagrin.

Thanks for PARTIALLY recovering E-mail notifications of the activity of people I am subscribed for.

Would you please recover this function completely? In other words, I see people posting/commenting on the dashboard, but don't have E-mail notifications.

Also, there when someone recommends the particular post, I don't see any names, only number of recommendations.

Can you recover it too?

The new email notifications is mega annoying as you have to open your site to read them. Its a waste of time and i know you doing it just to get more views on your site. I give it another day or two and i will unsubscribe. Thanks for a good site though.

I'm really impressed with the layout of the site and the investment vehicles this site offers. However, what I would really like to see are managed portfolios of PAMM traders (conservative, balanced, aggressive). Completely hands-free from the investor's side: low-risk and steady growth portfolios of between 10-20 traders per portfolio. I think that would make TradingFloor's offering a cut above the rest. I think I speak on behalf of a lot of investors on this site when I say that I really really really want this option. :)

on the old tradingfloor site there was a small button where you were notified when someone commented on one of your posts or on one of the posts where you already commented on. This was very handy as you could easily follow the conversation and keep it going. Is this still available on the new site (i can't find it)

Reaching https://www.tradingfloor.com/traders/saxobankuk from the embedded version of TradingFloor inside the SaxoTrader2?
One of my favorite spots to visit is https://www.tradingfloor.com/traders/saxobankuk, where I get the Morning and Afternoon Previews / Updates, which I like.
In SaxoTrader 2, when I activate TradingFloor and sign in, I get my Dashboard etc. My question is how do I navigate to https://www.tradingfloor.com/traders/saxobankuk (there is no navigation Line (like in an Internet browser, and there is no facility to store specific links/Favorites)? I can eventually find https://www.tradingfloor.com/traders/saxobankuk, using TradingFloor's Search Function, but this is ackward.
Have I overlooked something?

Tradingfloor.com has certain issues when used on smartphones.-- (samsung s3mini). You cannot close or reduce the forex trading activity window, which appears on the left hand side of the screen. When you are seeing trading ideas, it covers half the space and that cannot be reduced or closed. Need a proper way to close or minimise that window

Hi RB-CH. We have been getting reports of the notifications causing a bit of frustration. This is really unfortunate, and we are working hard to find better solutions! I hope you all will bear over with us until this gets straightened out. This is one of the areas where users' experiences is great for us to know! So thanks!

try to add a feature to save preferred setting for filtering traders, when you filter people based on certain criteria and want to continue, it goes away immediately, and you need to set it up again which is very annoying!
1y
Nele Klindt Nele Klindt
Hi songson. Thanks! We do know and it is on our rather long to-do list. We are planning for "sticky filters" across the whole site so that the site remembers what you selected last. I hope you will bear over with us and our faults. We're getting better every day.

A very intuitive and user friendly site .if I may share my view of the future of social trading I see groups of friends , family , drinking buddies , business associates collate all this information from trading floor and make investments through saxobank in selected financial products - they may decide amongst themselves about allocating gains and sharing losses and costs -it would be in keeping with desire to take more charge of a part of ones investment corpus in a socially collaborative manner without have to pay 20% or more to hedge fund type entities -saxobank has the potential to be at the vanguard of this evolution
with trading floor.com being a repository for trading investment ideas.

I would wish that saxobank may introduce a socially collobartive trading account which would function much like an investment club allowing friends , family and associates to pool funds to trade on ideas generated on the tradingfloor website acting as a catalyst for increased trading activity through saxobank .
Any plans for such an account?

Hi Jeahans, thank you for your feedback and thoughts on the future of trading on TradingFloor. I believe your question is best answered by your local Saxo Bank office. They can answer any and all questions you might have and offer in-depth explanations of the choice of accounts available to you in the effort to accommodate your needs. You find the contact information of all our global offices here: http://www.saxobank.com/support/contact-us

In the traders list, I see many names including mine for which neither a positive nor a negative return is mentioned. Just a "-". Any idea why that happens?
1y
Simon Kjaer Simon Kjaer
Hi ThomasK - Thank you for you question! I'm assuming the list of traders you are looking at, is sorted according to yearly return? The performance chart can only show the yearly performance if the account has been active for a year or more. I can see you have been an active trader since January 2014 which means that your performance will show if you filter according to quarterly or monthly returns (Please see attached screenshot). I hope this answers your question - if not, you are more than welcome to reiterate.
Happy Trading!

I would really like to see improvements in the Calendar, especially filtering. Why can't we filter for instance purely on Low events? As other people mentioned also you can't save settings. Finally I don't think that the currently available filtering works correctly. Choose Equities under asset class results in no matches

Hello Ethnms!
You propose a number of valid points. All concise suggestions for improvements to the calendar! What I'm gonna do now is that I'm gonna elaborate and support your suggestions and escalate them to the development team.
This is really great feedback and I want to make sure you know, that this is greatly appreciated! As we are currently incredibly busy refining, improving and optimizing the site, I can't promise you a time-horizon for implementation, but rest assured that your suggestions are being taken to heart!
Thank you again and do keep the suggestions coming!
Happy trading,
Simon!

It should be possible to compare your own (and others) return to a benchmark of your own choice. I would also be nice if you added the returns before 2011 to the accounts.

TDemant and Juhani! Thank you for your excellent feedback - You have both contributed with some great suggestions here!
@TDemant - I am pleased to let you know, that we are currently exploring exactly the possibility of comparing returns to selected benchmarks. Unfortunately, I am an not able to provide you with a status or time-horizon for implementation. Regarding showing data before 2011, this is a wish we are unfortunately not able to accommodate. The data before 2011 was gathered and stored in a way, that is unfortunately not compatible with the current platform-software.
@Juhani - Brilliant suggestion! I will be sure to bring this to the table for our next developer's meeting!
Thank you, gentlemen, for taking the time to submit your feedback.
Happy trading to both of you,
Simon
