Asian equities took a dive into the deep end overnight, ahead of this weekend’s G7 meeting (which The Donald will not attend) and, more importantly, his crunch summit with the North Korean dictator next week.

It's the World Cup. Need we say more? When an iconic event of this nature takes place, everyone's rapt. When it's in Brazil − the home of Pele, Zico, Garrincha and Ronaldo − there is just that little bit of extra gloss.

Brazil has long been lauded as the natural custodian of the artistic side of the beautiful game. But, while the five-times winner will undoubtedly be one of the favourites next month, it can expect tough competition from the likes of Germany, Argentina, reigning champions Spain and dark horses Chile.

Italy, Holland and Russia might also be quietly fancying their chances of bringing home the glory, given the right run and that necessary bit of luck when strategy and tactics prove bankrupt and a country's hopes lie in the random fate of a penalty shoot-out.

As you might expect, will have a few things up its sleeve for the event and we will definitely be putting our own unique spin on the fiesta. So do keep your eyes firmly fixed on the site over the next two to three weeks as we build towards June 12 and Brazil's opening match against Croatia.

We'll be wanting your feedback as usual, just as we do on all platform-related material. Keep your comments coming in and we'll do our best to get back to you as quick as we can.

From the beaches of Copacabana to steamy Manaus, it's going to be a party in Brazil. That same atmosphere will be replicated around the globe. We're going to enjoy it. Let's hope you all do too!
