Saxo Trade Challenge: And the winners are...

TradingFloor.com Team / Saxo Bank
Denmark
Without further ado, The TradingFloor.com team is proud to announce the three winners of this year's Saxo Trade Challenge:

  • 1st place - LEODR posting an overwhelming 205.75% performance
  • 2nd place - Mike falcon with an impressive 52.52%
  • 3rd place - Grace001 delivering a 50.84% return on investments

The trader in top spot!

Hearty and well deserved congratulations to LEODR on taking home the winning title as well as the grand first prize of USD 5000.

Throughout the competition, this adept Ukrainian trader has time and time again proven his wits and his worth by executing a series of strategic option plays across several volatile forex crosses including USDJPY, EURUSD and USDRUB. Quickly positioning himself as a top contender, he has given his fellow competitors a run for their money.

Benefiting tremendously from the positive nonfarm payrolls print on December 4, LEODR has managed to set an all-time performance record for the Saxo Trade Challenge. This serves as an impressive watermark for any future trading competition hosted here on TradingFloor.com. This is feat of strength alone is worthy of admiration.

The highly rewarding plays, however, also came at a high risk resulting in LEODR cashing in for the holidays after experiencing a drawdown of 26.64% landing him at his current 205.75% return, which proved a strategically prudent move.

The runner up

In second place, with a seemingly undying affection for the German Dax index, trader Mike Falcon posted a sturdy return of 50.52% on his investments. This return is only made more impressive given the sheer number of trades executed for the competition: For the duration of the Saxo Trade Challenge, Mike Falcon placed no less than 300 trades, thus adding an average of 0.17% percent to his account value per trade. No small achievement given difficulty of trading smaller time-frames.

Along with second place in the Saxo Trade Challenge, Mike Falcon takes home a prize of USD 3000 and big congratulations for this too.

Last but not least

In third place, with equal measures of resilience and skill, Grace001 who managed to keep his drawdown at an impressive low 6.04% while generating a no less impressive 50.84% return on his investment.

Likewise mastering the smaller time-frames, Grace001 shares with LEODR the valuable trait of knowing the ins and outs of the EURUSD and USDJPY.

Along placing third in the Saxo Trade Challenge, Grace001 is awarded with USD 1000 for his accomplishment. Congratulations on the well deserved third place.

A big thank you also goes out all competitors and spectators of the Saxo Trade Challenge as well – we hope you have found the competition as rewarding and educational as we have.

The purpose of the competition is to act as an inspiration and to encourage new investors not alone to demonstrate their trading prowess, but also to strengthen their social investment network here on TradingFloor.com

Many thanks to organisers of the competition and to the fellow contesters, and to my compatriots in particular. If it were not you, guys, I wouldn't have made it to the prize winning rank. Any competition reveals one's participant's strengths and weaknesses. This opportunity to take part in the contest made by best trading traits prevail while keeping my drawbacks aside. If someone was watching my performance a year ago, he/she would've noticed that after making a remarkable 1100 plus % of return in only 8 months, I lost practically all my inverstments in a couple of weeks. And that is because of the lack of discipline coupled with genius's syndrome , firts of all, and, then, lack of motivation (not to mention profit, of course). The competition has helped to cope with both. And I'm really sorry that it is is over, while I'll have to struggle with those demons again, but this time without any support from outside. Grace, dzhin77, leodr, you were a great company. Thanks again.
