I got stopped out on bottom tick as usual, so its probably safe enough to enter around these levels, but its waay down on the day, so bounces should be limited. But then again, Im clearly an idiot. Just my opinion for what its worth!

Very fickle markets indeed ;) And I am sure they go after the s/l these days ;) Start to set your orders where you think the s/l are and see what happens!

Sabrina, do you think that this is a counter trend for cable ?

David, the UK data of late has been poor, however I think that Carney wants to hike as this will give him an option to cut rates if Brexit falls of the rails. Tony, I think on Friday afternoon there is no need to enter any new trades anymore. We'd better head to the pub and enjoy ourselves! Wishing all a great weekend! ;)

@Alan.....All major fund houses and commercials et al know exactly where all the stops are situated after all you all declare them when you open your trades. Equally the professional trade houses know only too well where traders will seek to open trades after all they know fibbonacci and elliot wave models just as well as you and if vols are thin the majors can push buy markets into triggering stops and benefit from any continuation move as stops are triggered. Similarly they can sell larger order flows to trigger stops too.....all markets are zero sum trades for every winner there are losers that exactly match any winnings.The losers in this case are small traders as that is the easiest gain for the bigger players and is commonly known as free money.To exacerbate things further they can watch order flows to see if larger competitors start to skew the market place and they can turn their algos on or off or turn a trade instantly based on the order flow metrics.

Attached is a screen grab of what a pro desk sees.....take time to work through the numbers and you will see the markets change on order balancing and you will also see the green vertical line (std deviations) for market profiling and market order flows.

well done fxtime, now it makes sense ...

Cheers fx, so basically im getting picked off because my orders are so small? So honestly, is there actually any point in someone like me trying to trade? Or am i just providing entry points for bigger firms with real technology
2y
David12 David12
@Alan M, if the game rule is like that then it would be so disappointing because all our technicals are meaningless ...
2y

@Alan yes you can be picked off at ease but there are still plenty of things you can do to minimise the problem. An obvious one is trade as the big players do ! Alan post your email address on an old posting of mine and i will be notified of it and i can forward some info for you.
@David the issue is who is it who makes money from your ''technicals''? When you watch the news about the stock markets and you see traders desks ask yourself do you see fibbonacci or EW displayed on professional traders desks? Also why is the market profile volume displayed vertically...why is TICK/TRIN/TRIX relevant and why isn't it displayed on normal charts provided by market makers? Market depth and breadth isn't evident either....what would the max pain incurred by say option holders for a given strategy be ? Also you need to know ''jobbing'' where to fde markets and why. The ''classic technicals'' fail somewhat on the

Some one known to me wrote an article on the very topic mentioned see attached;

http://www.followingthetrend.com/2014/05/why-technical-analysis-is-shunned-by-professionals/

Just remember he too was an ex pro trader for a financial institution and he too wrote articles for Tradingfloor at one time.

Good morning gents! It is fantastic to have this platform to exchange ideas as I think we all are kind of isolated behind our screens. If trades go wrong or we get our stops taken only to see the trade reverse, is one of the most frustrating experiences and known to us all! Wishing you all a great start into the new week! Best Sab :)
