    Where to find lithium exposure as rechargables power ahead

    The main fuel powering transport is likely to shift from crude oil to lithium, the commodity in rechargeable batteries. Lithium is reasonably abundant in the world. Following years of consolidation, much of the supply of lithium is concentrated in just four hands: Rockwood, SQM and FMC Corp and China’s Sichuan Tianqui Lithium. Rockwood, SQM and FMC are owned by NYSE-listed businesses: Albemarle Corp, Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile and FMC Corp. These companies give investors exposure to lithium with the added safety of US corporate governance and SEC regulation. Investors who seek pure-play exposure can consider higher risk junior explorers, including some listed on the ASX: Orocobre Ltd, Pilbara Minerals, Neometals, Galaxy Resources and Altura Mining.
