    Hewlett-Packard prepares its big breakup

    The Times of India
Technology giant and Silicon Valley veteran Hewlett-Packard is preparing to split into two companies, with the firm's PC and printer business going separate ways from its software and business services element. The deal was originally engineered by former CEO Carly Fiorina, who is now running for the US presidency as a Republican. "The market right now needs to move in this kind of direction, more focused and more nimble" says Gartner analyst Tom Bittman. The tech sector analyst added, however, that "a split in itself is not a good or bad thing – it's what they do with it". HP stock is currently trading at a pre-market price of $12, down $0.44 from Friday's close.

Hewlett-Packard to break in two: WSJ

    Wall Street Journal
Hewlett-Packard has announced plans to split its PC and printer businesses from its corporate hardware and services operations, writes the Wall Street Journal. The planned split would see the US electronic giant break into two separate publicly traded entities, each with over $50 billion in annual revenue. The move comes hot on the heels of last week's eBay/PayPal split, and is likely intended to stem revenue and market share losses.
