GE pulls the plug on Electrolux deal

    MarketWatch
General Electric has pulled the plug on the sale of its appliance division to Sweden’s Electrolux AB. The $3.3 billion deal was under scrutiny from the US Department of Justice on antitrust grounds, although no official decision had been reached at the time of the deal's cancellation. Shares of Electrolux are currently down by over 12% on the Swedish exchange.

Electrolux, for its part, maintains that the deal would be a boon for the US consumer as it would allow the Stockholm-based firm to better compete with giants like LG and Samsung.
