Copper is an industrial metal which is ductile and highly electrically conductive. The main copper mine producing countries are Chile, Peru, China and the United States. Chile is the biggest exporter and China is the biggest importer. Copper trades on several exchanges around the world though the benchmark contracts are listed on the London Metal Exchange (LME). Copper is heavily used in electrical applications and construction as an electrical and thermal conductor.
