Light-weight, strong and durable industrial metal which is highly conductive, non-corrosive, malleable and recyclable. It is found in mineral form in bauxite ore. The main producers are China, Russia and Canada. Russia is the main exporter while the US, Japan and Germany are the main importers. Major bauxite miners are Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia and Guinea. Aluminium is used in transportation, packaging, construction and consumer electronic industries. Aluminium trades on several exchanges around the world though the benchmark contracts are listed on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
